Bachelor of Arts
Bachelor of Arts (BA) students can include Sustainability in their degree in a variety of ways.
Environment, Sustainability & Society (ESS) can be a central focus of a BA degree in aDouble Major or Combined Honoursdegree. Students study ESS along with any subject from the Faculty of Arts and Social Science or the Faculty of Science. These degree programs are 120 credit hours, meaning that they typically take 4 years to complete, same as a Single Major or Concentrated Honours degree.
Students who may want to pursue graduate studies should consider a Combined Honours degree, which typically requires an Honours Thesis (supervised independent research project) in one of the two chosen subjects, usually in fourth year. Meet with your Academic Advisors about subject-specific course and GPA requirements before or during third year!
Work-integrated learning options
BA students with ESS as a Major or Honours subject may apply forSustainability Work-Integrated Learning, with Sustainability Co-op (3 paid work terms) or Sustainability Work Experience Program (1 paid work term).
